The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, discussed with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, on Saturday developments in the political process in Libya.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 19th Summit of Heads of States and Governments of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, according to a statement issued by the Presidential Council.

Menfi discussed with Guterres the role of the Presidential Council in supporting a comprehensive political dialogue among the Libyan parties, and in leading the national reconciliation process.

The meeting saw also a discussion on the latest regional and international developments, especially the continued aggression against the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Menfi hailed the role of the Secretary General and his positions toward the humanitarian crisis in Gaza as well as his continued calls for an immediate ceasefire.
