During his meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, stressed the importance of the Italian-Libyan friendship agreement signed between the two countries in 2008, the completion of the Emssaed-Ras Ajdir road, and the ongoing consultation between the two countries in the areas of combating terrorism, immigration, and unifying the Libyan military institution.

Menfi received Meloni in Tripoli on Tuesday after her meeting with Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and the signing of a number of agreements in the fields of higher education, youth and sports and health.

The media office of the Presidential Council explained that Menfi and Meloni reviewed the importance of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields and working to develop it in a way that serves the interests of the two countries. Menfi stressed the importance of the entry of Italian companies into all parts of the country, especially the existing reconstruction projects in the east, west and south.

The media office added that Meloni stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of education, scientific research, health, sports, investment and reconstruction, in addition to the files of illegal immigration and organized crime. She also stressed Italy’s keenness to support the political process in Libya and engage positively to achieve the desire of the Libyans to hold elections.
