German ambassador says no alternative to elections, unified government in Libya
Germany's Ambassador to Libya, Michael Ohnmacht, said that there is no alternative to elections in Libya, and stressed the importance of the need for international and Libyan efforts to facilitate holding the vote.
Ohnmacht added, in an interview on the Libya Al-Ahrar TV channel, that the role of the international community is always to support Libyan initiatives, explaining that “without this support, there will be no progress in the political process.”
Libya ranks among top ten fastest-growing economies
Libya continues to maintain its presence on the list of the top ten fastest-growing economies in the world for the second consecutive year, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) expecting Libyan economy to grow by 7.8% in 2024, decreasing to 6.9% in 2025.
According to the latest semi-annual IMF projections published in April 2024, this is higher than its previous global growth forecast of 2.9% six months ago.
While the IMF is concerned about the global economic growth slowdown over the remaining decade, many emerging countries have strong short-term expectations.
Libyan Football Federation postpones convening of General Assembly after FIFA, clubs' meeting
More than 180 clubs that are members of the General Assembly of the Libyan Football Federation expressed their refusal to adopt the proposals to amend the system presented by the Libyan Football Federation because of the controversial points.
This came during their meeting with the representative of FIFA on Thursday. The General Assembly meeting, which was scheduled for Friday, was canceled and postponed for 45 days. Sports clubs had decided to form legal committees from all regions to discuss and amend the proposals before presenting them at the next meeting.
